Troubleshooting Uninstallation Issues Full Comprehensive Guide

Uninstalling Palia is a straightforward process, but there can be occasional issues that arise during the uninstallation. This guide provides you with step-by-step instructions on how to properly remove Palia from your system and troubleshoot any uninstallation-related issues. Please follow each step carefully to ensure a smooth uninstallation.

Step 1: Close Palia and Related Processes

Before starting the uninstallation, ensure that Palia and all its related processes are completely closed. This includes Palia game, the launcher, and any background processes associated with Palia. 

  • Close the Palia Game:

    • If Palia is running, click the "Exit" or "Quit" option within the game's menu. This will safely close the Palia game client.

  • End Palia Processes in Task Manager:

    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc or Ctrl + Alt + Delete and select "Task Manager" to open the Task Manager window.

    • Click More Details to see the Tabs. Under the "Processes" tab, locate and select any Palia-related processes (e.g., Palia.exe) and click "End Task." This ensures that any background processes associated with Palia are terminated.

⚠️Important Note: It's crucial to ensure that all Palia processes are fully closed before proceeding with the uninstallation to prevent potential conflicts or errors during the process.

Step 2: Uninstall Palia

Uninstall from the Settings page

  1. Select Start , then select Settings  > Apps > Apps & features

  2. Select the app you want to remove or find it in the search list box, and then select Uninstall.

Uninstall from the Control Panel (for programs)

  1. In the search box on the taskbar, type Control Panel and select it from the results.

  2. Select Programs Programs and Features.

  3. Press and hold (or right-click) on the program you want to remove and select Uninstall or Uninstall/Change. Then follow the directions on the screen.

Uninstall from the Start menu

  1. Select Start > All apps and search for the app in the list shown.

  2. Press and hold (or right-click) on the app, then select Uninstall.

Uninstall in Settings 

  1. Select Start Settings  > Apps > Apps & features.

  2. Find the app you want to remove, and select More  > Uninstall.

Uninstall from Control Panel 

  1. In search on the taskbar, enter Control Panel and select it from the results.

  2. Select Programs Programs and Features.

  3. Press and hold (or right-click) on the program you want to remove and select Uninstall or Uninstall/Change. Then follow the directions on the screen.

 

Step 3: Delete Remaining Palia Files

After uninstalling, it's advisable to delete any remaining Palia files and folders. This ensures a clean slate for a fresh installation.

  • After uninstalling, delete any remaining Palia files and folders. Common locations include:

    • C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Palia: Delete this entire folder.

Troubleshooting Uninstallation Issues

OS 5 Error When Uninstalling

If you encounter OS Error 5 while attempting to uninstall Palia, it's likely due to insufficient permissions. To address this issue, follow these steps:

⚠️ If you already have a existing shortcut for Palia on desktop you can go to STEP 5.

  1. Locate PaliaInstaller Directory: Navigate to the directory where PaliaInstaller is downloaded on your computer. The default path is typically: C:\Users\yourusername\Downloads\

  2. Find the PaliaInstaller Executable: Look for a file named "PaliaInstaller".

  3. Create a Shortcut: Right-click on "PaliaInstaller" and select "Create shortcut." This will create a shortcut to the executable on your desktop or in the same folder.

  4. Modify Shortcut Properties: Right-click on the newly created shortcut and select "Properties."

  5. Add uninstall Command:
  • In the "Shortcut" tab, locate the "Target" field. It will display the path to the Palia executable.

  • At the end of the address in the "Target" field, add a space, followed by "uninstall" (without the quotes). The full path should look something like this: C:\Users\yourusername\Downloads\PaliaInstaller.exe uninstall

  1. Run as Administrator:

  • Click on the "Advanced" button in the shortcut properties window.

  • Check the box that says "Run as administrator." hit ok.

  1. Save Changes: Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save the changes you made to the shortcut properties.

  2. Uninstall Palia: Now, double-click on the shortcut you created and Uninstall Palia.

📑Note: Using a shortcut with the "uninstall" command may help bypass OS Error 5 during uninstallation. This method is particularly useful if you encounter difficulties with the regular uninstallation process.

Uninstallation Stuck or Frozen

Solution: If the uninstallation process gets stuck or freezes, restart your computer, and then attempt the uninstallation again.

Palia Not Listed in Control Panel

Solution: If Palia is not listed in the Control Panel's installed programs, it's possible that it was installed in a non-standard location. In this case, you can manually delete the Palia folder from your system.
