Download and Installation Guide

This guide is meant to help you through the download and installation process for Palia.

Note: We currently only support Windows and Switch

Downloading Palia

PC/Palia Launcher

1. Once you have successfully signed up for an account, it should prompt you to the site where you can download the game. If you are not yet ready to download at this time and wish to do it later, you can download  it here: https://accounts.palia.com/account/download
2. When you are at the site, there will be a prompt that asks you to log in with your email address and a password. Use the email and password that you created during account registration.
3. After you successfully logged in, there should be a tab that says "Download Game". Click that tab, then hit the "Download" button.
   • Note: For Closed Beta, only invited players will have the Download button on this page.
4. Once you finished downloading the launcher, go to your computer's download folder and check if the launcher file is there.
5. If you find it in your “Downloads” then congratulations, you are now ready to move on to Installing Palia!

Installing Palia

• After you’ve successfully downloaded the launcher, run the PaliaLauncher file.
• (Optional) Select your installation drive:

• Hit the Install button and let it install Palia.

• Wait for the launcher to patch the game to the current version.

• Hit Play and start playing Palia!

Patching Palia

If you are currently logged in when we go into downtime for a hotfix or a patch, you will usually only get kicked to the "Play" screen, not totally out of the game. If you try clicking "Play" again, you won't be able to get in because you haven't patched up yet. Normally, this results in a "424" or "matchmaking" error. 

• Completely log out of the game, and relaunch to download the update.

If you have pinned Palia to your taskbar, please make sure you are running the game from the shortcut on your desktop, as Palia won't patch automatically from the pinned location.

Important Reminders For Installation

Make sure you're running the latest version of your Windows OS

To know if you have the latest version, just search "Windows Update" in your Start menu and there you will see if you are up to date. 

When installing the game make sure to Run as Administrator

Once you have downloaded the game from the Palia website, right-click the installer and click "Run this program as an administrator", then click Apply and OK.

Turn off Windows Firewall temporarily

To disable Firewall for Windows 10, please follow the steps below:

1. Head to Settings  > Update & Security  > Windows Security and then Firewall & network protection.

2. Switch the setting of Microsoft Defender Firewall to Off.

If the troubleshooting steps above still do not fix the issue, please submit a ticket to Palia Player Support with the details of your issue and attach your Install logs. The logs will help our engineers figure out what's causing the issue.

Below are the steps to get your Install logs:

• Press [Windows Key] + R
• Paste %localappdata%\Palia\Launcher\Cache\palia-install.log into the window that appears and hit [Enter]
• Click "File" then "Save"
• Attach the file to your support ticket
